Koei Tecmo has officially unveiled a brand-new trailer for Attack on Titan 3, giving players their first extended look at what is shaping up to be the biggest game adaptation of the popular and iconic series. More importantly, the reveal confirms that this isn’t simply a sequel to the previous games. Instead, Attack on Titan 3 aims to retell the entire anime from beginning to end while introducing revamped gameplay, larger battlefields, and several new mechanics that weren’t possible in earlier entries.
The latest gameplay showcase highlights everything fans would expect from an Attack on Titan game. Players zip through the skies using Omni-Directional Mobility (ODM) Gear, slash Titan weak points with high-speed precision, and recreate many of the anime’s most memorable battles. However, the footage also reveals significant improvements that make this entry feel far more ambitious than its predecessors.
The Complete Attack on Titan Story in One Game
Perhaps the biggest announcement is that Attack on Titan 3 will cover the franchise’s complete storyline. The previous two games only adapted portions of the anime. The original Attack on Titan (2016), also known as Wings of Freedom, focused primarily on Season 1, while Attack on Titan 2 and its Final Battle expansion expanded the experience through Season 3.
This time, players will experience the entire saga, from the fall of Wall Maria and Eren Yeager’s early days in the Survey Corps to the events of Marley, the Rumbling, and the anime’s dramatic conclusion. Rather than creating another partial adaptation, Omega Force appears to be positioning Attack on Titan 3 as the definitive game based on the series.
Familiar Combat With Major Upgrades
The signature ODM Gear gameplay returns with smoother movement, faster traversal, and more fluid combat animations. The new trailer showcases players swinging across massive environments before targeting Titans from multiple angles, making encounters feel even more dynamic than before.
The developers have also confirmed battles against all Nine Titans, something fans have wanted since the earlier games. Beyond Titan fights, the game introduces expanded equipment upgrades, deeper progression systems, and new customization options for players looking to personalize their Survey Corps experience.
Bigger Maps and More Freedom
Unlike the relatively linear mission structure of previous entries, Attack on Titan 3 appears to feature significantly larger environments. Gameplay footage shows players freely navigating expansive battlefields instead of being restricted to narrow mission areas.
One of the more interesting additions is a squad management system. Characters rescued during missions can eventually be recruited into your squad. Attack on Titan 3 is currently scheduled to launch this winter for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. While Koei Tecmo has yet to announce a specific release date, the recent trailer and extensive gameplay showcase suggest development is well underway.
