10. ILL

The trailer for Dune: Awakening impressed players with its massive open-world desert environments and survival gameplay mechanics. PlayStation State of Play 2026 gave fans a deeper look at the game based on the popular sci-fi franchise. Dune: Awakening already had strong hype before the event, but the new gameplay footage made the project look far more ambitious than many expected. The game is releasing on  September 22, 2026.

7. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis finally gave fans another cinematic look at Lara Croft’s next adventure. The trailer combined ancient mythology, dangerous exploration, and large action sequences that immediately captured attention during PlayStation State of Play 2026. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis also benefits from the massive popularity of the franchise, making it one of the showcase’s biggest mainstream reveals. The game is releasing on 25th September.

6. Onimusha: Way of the Sword

The trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword proved that Capcom is serious about reviving the legendary action franchise in a major way. The gameplay shown during PlayStation State of Play 2026 featured brutal sword combat, cinematic duels, and dark supernatural enemies. Onimusha: Way of the Sword also gained extra attention because the developers released a playable demo shortly after the showcase. The game is coming on 25th September, 2026.

5. Silent Hill: Townfall

The popular Silent Hill franchise returns with another title! Silent Hill: Townfall finally returned with new gameplay footage and a release date reveal, making it one of the most anticipated horror games from PlayStation State of Play 2026. The trailer focused heavily on psychological horror, disturbing imagery, and an eerie atmosphere that perfectly matched the franchise’s legacy. Silent Hill: Townfall instantly became one of the showcase’s biggest talking points among horror fans. The game is releasing on September 24, 2026.

4. Phantom Blade Zero

Phantom Blade Zero once again proved why it is one of the most visually impressive action games currently in development. The fast-paced combat, stylish animations, and cinematic presentation shown during PlayStation State of Play 2026 generated massive excitement online. Phantom Blade Zero also stood out because Sony announced that the game will receive a dedicated future showcase, showing how important the project has become. The game is set to release on September 9, 2026.

3. Until Dawn 2

Until Dawn 2 was one of the biggest surprise reveals from PlayStation State of Play 2026, as the sequel is coming 12 years after the release of the original game. The original game became a cult favorite because of its cinematic storytelling, branching choices, and memorable horror moments, which is why fans have wanted a sequel for years. Although The Quarry was sort of a spiritual sequel, now the hype is bigger as Until Dawn 2 is a proper official sequel and it instantly generated huge reactions online as players began speculating about the new cast, story, and possible connections to the first game. The game is set to release in 2027.

2. God of War Laufey

God of War Laufey shocked fans by shifting the spotlight toward Faye, one of the franchise’s most mysterious characters. For months, players have been hearing about a new game featuring Faye, but now players got a 23 minute gameplay trailer which featured Kratos’s wife in brutal combat. Its visuals immediately made it one of the biggest reveals from PlayStation State of Play 2026. God of War Laufey also sparked major discussion because many players never expected Sony to explore this part of the God of War universe so soon.

1. Marvel’s Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine completely stole the show at PlayStation State of Play 2026 where players got a 7 minute gameplay trailer showing the game’s brutal fights and cinematic presentation. Sony showcased several minutes of intense combat, showcasing Wolverine’s savage fighting style and darker tone compared to many other superhero games. Marvel’s Wolverine also dominated social media discussions after the event, with many fans calling it the strongest and most exciting reveal from the entire showcase.

Interestingly, despite being a PlayStation showcase, most of the games shown during PlayStation State of Play 2026 were not actual PS5 exclusives. Titles like Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War Laufey remain the biggest confirmed PlayStation exclusives from the event, while games such as Phantom Blade Zero, Dune: Awakening, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword are also releasing on other platforms. Until Dawn 2 is currently announced only for PS5, but a PC release is expected in the near future.

Marvel’s Wolverine is targeting a 2026 release window, although no specific date has been confirmed. The highly anticipated Insomniac Games project has been generating buzz ever since its short teaser reveal, and fans are eager for more information. Reports also suggest that Insomniac is working on a Venom game featuring Eddie Brock as the lead character, alongside Cletus Kasady as Carnage. The Venom title is said to be much earlier in production, suggesting that it may not arrive until 2027 at the earliest.

It has also been revealed that the trailer for Wolverine has already been completed. It is expected to be showcased at Sony’s next State of Play event with a high level of certainty. However, if it does not make an appearance there, the trailer is likely to be released later this year, with The Game Awards in December seen as the most probable alternative. What this means for fans is that a proper look at Insomniac’s darker and more mature take on Wolverine is almost guaranteed in 2025, giving the community something to look forward to long before the actual launch.

Wolverine Trailer Expected Soon

The upcoming reveal is one of the most anticipated in recent PlayStation history. After three successful Spider-Man titles that reinvented superhero gameplay, Insomniac is now turning its attention to Wolverine. While little is known about the story or mechanics, insiders describe it as a standalone game with a darker tone, befitting the character’s violent and gritty reputation.

Marvel’s Wolverine release date is still months or maybe over a year away, but the fact that the trailer is finished indicates development is progressing steadily. Sony is expected to use the trailer reveal as a centerpiece for its next showcase, underscoring the importance of the project in PlayStation’s upcoming lineup. If not, The Game Awards will serve as an equally large stage to reintroduce the game to the public.

Insomniac Expands Marvel Universe

Insomniac Games has established itself as one of Sony’s most reliable studios. Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018), Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020), and Spider-Man 2 (2023) all received strong critical and commercial reception, with particular praise for their fluid traversal, cinematic storytelling, and faithful character portrayals. The success of these titles has built enormous trust in Insomniac’s ability to handle Marvel properties.

Marvel’s Wolverine release date in 2026 means fans will not have to wait long after Spider-Man 2 to experience another ambitious superhero game. Insomniac is expected to bring the same level of polish and innovation to Wolverine’s brutal combat and storytelling. The darker tone should also allow the studio to explore a different kind of narrative weight, one that sets Wolverine apart from the brighter and more youthful Spider-Man titles.

Venom and Future Projects
